Part of Backa in the Great Hungarian Plain - located south of the county town of Baja, and extends to the border in the south. The sector includes the villages of Vaskút / Waschkut, Gara, Bácsszentgyörgy, Csatalja / Tschatali, Dávod, Hercegszánto, and Nagybaracska Bátmonostor. Two of these places are famous thermal baths. Other towns in turn are established by the Germans (Danube Swabians) after the Turkish wars or were resettled, so German as their language is still very common. In some places still are kindergartens, primary and secondary schools with a German train. And in Baja is the renowned German Training Centre, where you can even make the recognized German Baccalaureate. |
